“Today Is My Birthday… Can You Please Wish Me a Happy Birthday?”

“What did you wish for?” I asked.

He smiled and answered:

“I wished that Mommy could see me happy today.”

Nobody in that bakery could hold back their tears.

But the biggest surprise came afterward.

Robert took a small envelope from his coat and handed it to Oliver.

Inside was a letter from his mother.

Robert explained that he had received it after her death but had never found Oliver.

The letter said:

“My precious Oliver,

If Grandpa ever finds you, please don’t be angry with him. He loved me once, and deep down, I believe he still does.

I want you to grow up surrounded by love. Never think that you were forgotten.

You are the most beautiful gift life ever gave me.

Happy birthday, my little angel.

Love, Mommy.”

Oliver pressed the letter against his chest.

Then he looked at Robert and whispered:

“Can I call you Grandpa from now on?”

Robert nodded, unable to speak.

That evening, Robert took Oliver home after the proper arrangements were made with the authorities. He promised to give him a safe home, a loving family, and every birthday celebration he had missed.

And me?

I visited them the following Sunday.

Oliver ran toward me with a huge smile, holding a small drawing.

It showed three people holding hands beneath a bright yellow sun.

At the bottom, in his little handwriting, were the words:

“Thank you for not walking past me.”

I still have that drawing today.

And every time I see it, I remember one thing:

Sometimes, the smallest act of kindness can change an entire life.

Oliver didn’t need an expensive birthday present.

He just needed someone to stop, listen, and remind him that he mattered.

THE END. ❤️

If this story touched your heart, leave a ❤️ for Oliver and remember: Never underestimate the power of kindness.
